New Executive Director Appointment

In April 2025, the PIANZ Board commenced a recruitment process for a new Executive Director to replace Michael Brooks on his retirement at the end of this year.

I am pleased to advise that after an extensive search, we have appointed Fiona MacMillan to the role of Executive Director.

Fiona’s most recent role is with Seafood New Zealand, where she has held the role of GM Communications and Marketing since August 2023. In this role, she has had responsibility for the strategic leadership in all aspects of Seafood New Zealand’s public communications, including reputational risk management. She has also managed stakeholder relations across media, government, and industry.

Before this role, she was employed by Sanford Limited for 6 years, where she held the role of GM, Corporate Communications.

Fiona will commence her employment with PIANZ / EPF / NZFMA on 8 October 2025. Michael Brooks will step down from the role at this time but will remain available to Fiona for several weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
