Poultry Biosecurity Grants

The Government has committed $1.5 million for the Poultry Biosecurity Grant.

Grants of up to $25,000 will be available to reimburse eligible small- and medium-sized poultry producers (those who have no more than 100,000 birds) for up to 50 percent of their costs towards making practical infrastructure improvements to protect their flocks.

Up to $3,000 of this funding can go towards the costs of developing a farm-specific Avian Biosecurity Control Programme required under the new regulations the Government announced in July.

Grant funding will support practical improvements that reduce the risk of disease introduction and spread, including infrastructure, access controls, bird-proofing measures, and cleaning and disinfection facilities.

Example of infrastructure cost reimbursement:

Operator spends $15,000 – MPI reimburses $7,500
Operator spends $30,000 – MPI reimburses $15,000
Operator spends $50,000 – MPI reimburses $25,000
Operator spends $70,000 – MPI reimburses $25,000.
